Starting when I got home from work today (Tuesday) I decided that my mom's birthday was a great day to get a ton of my senior show done. Now 7 hours in, I am farther along on this project then I ever thought I could be. Drawing everything from Sara, to Scott, and even a rather angry security guard all while sitting in an empty house. This all nighter already has been a success so far, but who knows what can come of the next few hours.
With most of my roommates either leaving today or early tomorrow I feel a wondrous holiday descending upon us. Not often do I get to see my family and oddly enough this year I shall see even less of them as I am working so long on this project. Tis a sad fact but it will all definitely be worth it in the end. Thanksgiving is truly a time to come together and think of the ones you love, and through my work here I will be thinking of my family and friends.
Soooo that was a side track...lets get back to the project.
I think the more I tend to draw these characters (though cartoonish) the better I get at drawing the human form. I realize that going through I must be just getting used to just drawing my own characters, which is honestly alright with me. The more I draw Sara and Scott the more I feel like I get to know them better and better. It's sort of an interesting experience to have brought these characters from my head, into script, onto drawing and into animation. You really get to learn these characters and their past that you have made up for them on the fly. Not only is this project getting me to draw regularly again, but also solve many problems I am finding with technique and tending to be lazy at times. This must stop...
I think this project will also solve a problem I happen to have when I work on long projects. What tends to happen for me, and possibly many others would be I tend to hate watching my completed work so much so that I normally can't be in the room while it plays. I foresee this project (being one that I have worked on intensely and quite a lot) being a much more positive experience. I think that because I have really gone through so many motions with not only these characters, but also the ideas technological wise, I will for once be immensely proud to show this work.
I must say that this night, though long has inspired me to really push these last few weeks, and truly make this a project that can be shown in future years, and inspire me to push forward into being a better designer and story teller. I will try to be as involved on this blog as I can, and as per last blog I promised some previous work, so below BEHOLD VIMEO...
Muffin Man Lawyer - My first major rigged character animation
My Reel - Compositing Class - My compositing reel from Kevin Pontuti's compositing class
Secret Agent Jerry - Most recent animation created. This was my first experience with frame by frame
Talk to you all soon.
